Caroline Murta is a brazilian visual artist based in Curitiba, Paraná. Her artistic expression mainly encompass illustration, engraving and photography. Attracted by the grotesque and the macabre, Murta seeks to reflect on the human condition and the beauty that lies within the darkness, thus her creations often give birth to figures in a state of horror and melancholy contemplation, often flirting with the fantastic in her creations. Depictions of death and mourning and the post-mortem photographs from the Victorian Era also exert heavy influence on her work.
